Facts and Statistics in Excellence

  • In the spring of 2012, Christ Our King-Stella Maris School was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) as by the Catholic Diocese of Charleston.
  • In 2009, COK-SM was named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence based on our high scores in reading a math on nationally standardized tests and on our comprehensive and innovative curriculum.
  • In the summer of 2012, the readers of Moultrie News voted COK-SM the #1 private school in the region for the second year in a row.
  • Eleven students were named Outstanding Eighth Grade Scholars by Bishop England High School in the 2011-12 year.
  • Twenty-one eighth graders who scored 50 or higher on the PSAT in verbal, math or writing were named South Carolina Junior Scholars.
  • Thirty-five seventh graders qualified to take the 2011-12 SATs. Qualifying students had to score at least 95% on the ITBS in either math/science, verbal/social studies or composite tests.
  • Twelve seventh graders were named Duke TIP Scholars and five of the students scored high enough to receive state recognition.
  • A COK-SM eighth grader placed second in the 2012 South Carolina Geography Bee.
  • An eighth grader won the Daughters of the American Revolution Essay Contest.
  • In the VFW essay contest, there were three COK-SM local winners. One of those students placed second in the district competition.
  • Eight COK-SM students participated in the MathCounts competition and one of them was awarded first place in the individual competition.
  • Our rookie Lego Robotics teams placed 1st and 3rd in local competition. On the state level, one team placed 3rd.
  • The Beta Club, a service club for students with averages of 95 or above, has recently inducted 28 new members.
  • A sixth grade student was named a SC Young Entrepreneur by the SC Economics Council. A fourth grade student submitted a winning ART entry for the 2012-2013 SC Economics Council calendar.
  • Three middle school students were chosen to participate in Honors Choir by the Southern Division of the American Choral Directors Association.
  • Two eighth graders earned first and honorable mention in the 2012 North Charleston Art Exhibition. Our Art teacher placed second in the adult division.
  • The COK-SM School Board was named a Distinguished Board by the National Catholic Education Association in the spring of 2011.
  • Our sixth grade boys’ basketball team won their division at the Diocesan Statewide Basketball Tournament.
  • One of the COK-SM golf teams was undefeated to win the regular season for the third year in a row 6-0 in 2010-11. The girls’ eighth grade volleyball team also enjoyed an undefeated season.
