Expanding Learning Beyond the Core Curriculum

In addition to our strong academic foundation, Christ Our King – Stella Maris Catholic School offers a vibrant Enrichment Program designed to nurture creativity, curiosity, and personal growth. Students in all grade levels participate in a variety of enrichment classes that inspire them to explore their God-given talents and interests.

Art

Art is offered weekly to students in Pre-K through 5th grade, giving them the opportunity to explore their creativity through a wide range of media and techniques. From painting and sculpture to drawing and collage, students experience the joy of artistic expression.

In Middle School, art becomes more advanced and is offered daily for one academic quarter. Students engage in more complex projects and refine their skills through focused, hands-on instruction.

Music & Performing Arts

Our music program fosters a love for vocal and instrumental performance:

• General music classes are provided to all students, helping them develop rhythm, melody, and performance confidence.

• The Harmonia Choir is an after-school opportunity for students to share their musical gifts at school Masses, community events, and special programs.

• Students in Grades 4–8 may opt to join the Violin Program, which replaces one general music class per week with dedicated string instruction.

• Students in 7th and 8th grades are eligible to participate in the spring musical theatre production each year.

Technology & Digital Literacy

Technology instruction begins in 1st grade and continues through 5th grade, focusing on:

• Foundational digital literacy

• Keyboarding

• Online safety

• Basic coding and software navigation

Beginning in 5th grade, students are issued Chromebooks to support their academic work. In Middle School (Grades 6–8), technology is embedded into daily classroom instruction across subjects.

Physical Education

Physical wellness is an essential part of a student’s development. All students at COKSM participate in Physical Education every year:

• Lower School students enjoy weekly P.E. classes that encourage movement, teamwork, and healthy competition.

• Middle School students take P.E. daily for one academic quarter, engaging in a variety of athletic activities that promote fitness, sportsmanship, and lifelong wellness habits.

Spanish

Our Spanish program introduces students to a new language and culture:

• Students in 4K through 5th grade receive Spanish instruction once a week through fun songs, games, and multimedia learning.

• In Middle School, Spanish becomes a daily core subject. Students build on their foundational skills and move into more advanced language structure, vocabulary, and conversation.

By 8th grade, students are well-prepared for high school Spanish and eligible to earn high school credit through Honors Spanish I.

Library & Literacy

Students in Pre-K through 5th grade visit the Library weekly to:

• Check out books

• Enjoy read-alouds and storytelling

• Learn library organization and research skills

• Participate in seasonal reading programs

The Library also hosts two annual Book Fairs, fostering a love for reading and supporting classroom libraries.

At Christ Our King – Stella Maris, our Enrichment Program plays a key role in developing the whole child. Through art, music, language, fitness, technology, and literature, students are encouraged to discover new passions, express themselves confidently, and live joyfully in pursuit of knowledge and faith.
