Enrichments

In addition to the core academic curriculum, students in all grade areas participate in a variety of once-weekly Enrichment subjects.

Art Class is a weekly course in all grade levels where students can really exercise their creativity in every possible medium! Once students reach middle school, they are eligible to take an advance course which meets twice weekly and covers more difficult projects.

In Music, students can really show off their beautiful voices! Students in all grade levels are also eligible to participate in a variety of student choirs that meet after school and perform at Mass, school events, and local competitions! Students in the middle school who are part of these choirs also meet twice weekly during the school day.

Our Computers and Technology class is designed to help students in grades 5K - 6th grade develop the foundational and fundamental skills in digital literacy, critical thinking, and the use of various platforms and types of technology.  Starting in 5th grade, students have access to 1:1 technology and are issued a school Chromebook.  In the middle school grades 6 - 8, technology is embedded into daily subject area curriculum, and students participate in a Writing Lab class.  This unique class helps to enhance writing instruction through applications of digital skills throughout the writing process and student collaboration.  Students in grades 7 and 8 also have the opportunity to join the Yearbook class, where they work throughout the school year on planning and producing the school yearbook.

Exercise is important, which is why all students take Physical Education every year at COKSM. Students get to work out, play sports, compete with each other, and burn off some of that extra energy! Some students in the middle school can also meet a second time per week to sweat even more!

Students in 4K through 5th grade take Spanish as an enrichment class before it becomes a daily course in the middle school. Students learn the basics of Spanish using creative activities, fun songs, and educational video clips. By the time they reach middle school, students are fluent in the fundamentals and can jump right into the more advanced material!

Finally, lower school students visit the Library once a week to check out books, listen to stories, watch fun videos, and learn how the library works. The library also hosts the schools' annual Book Fairs.
